Child’s First Visit

A special moment that sets the stage for a lifetime of positive, educational and fun dental visits.

Our team at St. Clair Dental enjoys treating children ( pediatric dentistry). It is important to achieve a positive first experience. Many of our patients are part of a multigenerational family that attend regular hygiene appointments. We recommend that our patients with children join their parents, grandparents or siblings to experience the appointment in a comfortable and relaxed environment. It is less stressful for a child to see a family member in the chair first. Our team of hygienists are very imaginative and include the child in the visit.

When the child is 1.5 to 2 years old, we can schedule a first visit where they are the star of the show! This appointment is guided by how receptive and relaxed the child is. The introduction to the hygiene room, the chair and the equipment is very interactive and is paced by the child’s acceptance. Most children are interested and engaged when are able to perform an exam with a limited scale and polishing of their teeth. We find the early visits are more successful with family members present in the room and we encourage a family environment.
