Dental Bridges

A permanent solution to replace a missing tooth. A bridge is bonded or cemented in place and supported by "bridging" it to adjacent teeth.

A dental bridge is a non-surgical option to replace a missing tooth. It is supported by the teeth on both sides of the missing tooth. These teeth will be prepared and reduced to accept the anchors/ abutments of the bridge. The false tooth will be suspended between these teeth and rest along the gum line.

Advantages of a Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is usually completed within 10 to 14 days over the span of 2 to 3 appointments. It requires no surgical intervention. It is custom shaded and blends beautifully; the false tooth is shaped to appear as it is naturally coming out of the gum.

Disadvantages of a Dental Bridge

A dental bridge requires the preparation of 2 additional teeth to support the bridge (one on either side of the space). This option also requires diligent hygiene home care to clean the supported areas with specialized floss or a water pik. If decay, gum disease or fracture occurs affecting the 2 supporting anchor teeth the entire bridge may be in jeopardy.

Alternatives to bridge treatment

A superior alternative treatment to a bridge is a single implant to replace the missing tooth. The implant is self-supported and does not require treating additional teeth, this reduces further risk to healthy teeth.
