Dental Crowns

Often referred to as a “cap”, it covers and protects broken or heavily restored (filled) teeth.

What is a dental crown?

A crown is a protective covering that can be fabricated from ceramic, metal or gold. A tooth may need a crown for many reasons.

  • A tooth that has been heavily resorted with fillings
  • A tooth or filling has broken or fractured.
  • A tooth has had root canal therapy.
  • A tooth has cracks.
  • A tooth is heavily worn from a clenching and grinding habit

A crown can also be placed for aesthetic reasons. Several crowns can be place on the front teeth to change color, size, contour, alignment, and close gaps between teeth. Most offices have a laboratory fabricate their crowns, but St. Clair Dental is proud to offer same day crowns to our patients. Our facility has an on-site CAD/CAM E4D mill system. We are able to scan, design and mill (fabricate) your customized crown. This eliminates the need for a temporary crown placement and a second return appointment to have the laboratory crown bonded in place.

St. Clair Dental uses the CAD/CAM E4D mill to custom make dental crowns in-office.
