Oral Examinations & Oral Cancer Screenings
Detailed exams are performed at every visit to ensure any changes are detected early, including oral cancer lesions.
Clenching and grinding of your teeth (bruxism) is a repetitive involuntary habit during sleep. This is very common. This habit can be damaging to the teeth, dental work, tissues, bone, and implants. Bruxism can cause inflammation in the jaw joint (TMJ). It can become painful and reduce your ability to open, close and chew without discomfort. If this is occurring, you may require a custom made night guard. A scan or impression can be taken of your teeth to fabricate a guard. These guards are horseshoe in shape and soften when they are warmed in water prior to wearing. The night guards are comfortable, secure and require minimal care. Not wearing a night guard when you have bruxism can lead to tooth fracture, cracked teeth, soreness, broken dental work, failure of implants and may lead to gum disease.
At your next dental visit ask if you have signs of bruxism.
Custom sports guards are easy to wear and a necessity for athletes and many recreational activities. They come in a variety of colours and combinations. Sports guards have been proven to decrease the occurrence and severity of concussions as well as protecting the teeth from damage. A custom sports guard is a more comfortable and secure option compared to drugstore “one size fits all” guards.
Keep your teeth and your brain safe with a custom-made sports guard.
